On May 25, 2015, Wolf volcano on Gal\u00e1pagos\u2019 Isabela Island, the largest island chain, erupted spewing fire, smoke and lava. Thankfully, the eruption didn\u2019t put at risk the animals on Isabela. I couldn\u2019t imagine being on an island with an active volcano. My hair would singe. And let me tell you. Blue-Footed Booby<\/strong><\/p>\n

These birds have long, pointy bills and blue feet. You can\u2019t tell male from female, unless you look into their eyes. According to Cornell Lab of Ornithology, \u201cFemales have larger pupils that sort of look like stars.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marine Iguana<\/strong><\/p>\n

Marine iguanas love the water. In fact, they\u2019re the only sea-going lizard found in the world. The lizards spend time on land, except when they\u2019re in the ocean looking for a meal. Curiously, during times of an El Ni\u00f1o-induced famine, the iguanas will shrink in size. But they grow as they find and eat more food.<\/p>
