{"id":5468,"date":"2013-01-18T19:28:38","date_gmt":"2013-01-18T19:28:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/travelplannersinternational.wordpress.com\/?p=74"},"modified":"2023-04-17T13:26:41","modified_gmt":"2023-04-17T17:26:41","slug":"spotlight-on-walt-disney-world-part-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/?p=5468","title":{"rendered":"Spotlight On: Walt Disney World (Part One)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So\u2026secret confession time.<\/p>\n<p>I love Disney.\u00a0\u00a0 And not a little.\u00a0 I&#8217;m one of those people who is constantly checking every Disney Facebook page available.\u00a0 I get all the newsletters.\u00a0 I stalk the blogs.\u00a0 I even read AllEars.net like it is my bible.\u00a0 A little perspective:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_75\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/cubbyphoto.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-75 \" src=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/cubbyphoto-224x3001.jpg\" alt=\"If you think this is bad you should see my house.\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-75\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">If you think this is bad you should see my house.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I even make it a point to stay on property as much as possible -and I live in Orlando. \u00a0Sorry I&#8217;m not sorry. \u00a0Cause truthfully I could have worse vices. \u00a0So when I was given the opportunity to attend the New Fantasyland press event as a travel industry participant, of course I said yes! \u00a0So I packed my bag for my long journey 30 miles down I-4.<\/p>\n<p>The opening event was held at Splitsville.\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: #eeeeee; text-align: center;\">If you haven&#8217;t been to Downtown Disney in a while, Splitsville is located where Virgin Megastore once was. \u00a0For those who don&#8217;t remember there was a Virgin Megastore at Downtown Disney may remember it as the Princess Diana Experience or its short-lived run as RIDEMAKERZ &#8211; yes all-caps, one word, with a z (no lie).<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #eeeeee; text-align: center;\">With a retro feel, the Spiltsville atmosphere is definitely a little more upscale than a traditional bowling alley. \u00a0The details are amazing, down to the bowling trophies and the colorful lockers (and the bowling bags which I wanted to steal). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_77\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-77\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/img_1264.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-77 \" src=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/img_1264-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"I'm not a big fan of bowling but they gave us these snazzy socks!\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-77\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I&#8217;m not a big fan of bowling but they gave us these snazzy socks!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bowling is not my thing personally but there was a DJ and an open bar so I was covered. \u00a0PS the Billards Bar makes a great Cherry Coke- don&#8217;t skip it. \u00a0The highlight of the place is a tie:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Food and The View<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh the food. \u00a0The pizza, the sushi, the sliders. \u00a0Everything was amazing. \u00a0I can&#8217;t tell you how much food I ate (too much). \u00a0I totally missed the nacho and carving stations. \u00a0Everything they served you can get on a regular day (that includes the Cherry Coke) so go eat it all. \u00a0Now. \u00a0Seriously.<\/p><div class=\"post-cta-roar\"><div class=\"post-cta-roar__inner\"><h2 class=\"post-cta-roar__headline\">5,800+ Rockstars Have Partnered With Us<\/h2><p class=\"post-cta-roar__paragraph\">Determine which path is right for you<\/p><div class=\"post-cta-roar__buttons\"><div class=\"post-cta-roar__button\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/?page_id=16967\" title=\"New to Biz Page\" class=\"btn--primary btn--post-cta-roar js-new-button\"><span>I'm a New Agent<\/span><\/a><\/div><div class=\"post-cta-roar__button\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/?page_id=140\" title=\"Experienced Agents Page\" class=\"btn--secondary btn--post-cta-roar js-experienced-button\"><span>I'm An Experienced Agent<\/span><\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p>The view was spectacular too. \u00a0I know it probably seems like such a silly thing to mention as the highlight of a bowling alley. Consider this:<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/img_1266.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-84 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/img_1266-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1266\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>If you&#8217;re not a bowler or a pool player and are just looking for a great place to eat good food and have a drink, the patio at Spiltsville is a great choice. \u00a0It overlooks\u00a0Downtown Disney West Side, and you can hear the music from inside which means you can shake it without paying a cover. \u00a0Plus the food is inexpensive by Disney standards. \u00a0So if you&#8217;re cheap like me, you&#8217;ll be happy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So after the event at Splitsville, we went to the Yacht and Beach Club. \u00a0Side note: \u00a0If you haven&#8217;t stayed there, it is the best of the Walt Disney World deluxe resorts. \u00a0Promise.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_130\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-130\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/eb3-67.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-130 \" src=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/eb3-67-300x203.jpg\" alt=\"Hello beautify pool\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-130\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hello beautify pool<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The pool alone makes the stay worthwhile. \u00a0Plus you get to hang out with this guy!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/theadmiral.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-132 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/theadmiral-140x300.jpg\" alt=\"theadmiral\" width=\"140\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/tpi.itbyus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/theadmiral.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a>After changing into something more party appropriate and freshening up, we were corralled into the convention center to wait for the buses to the Magic Kingdom. \u00a0I only mention this because I met a lovely lady by the name of Kendra, who is the owner of Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Travel. \u00a0She is a fellow former Disney Intern (Spring Advantage `05 right here). \u00a0We ended up hanging out for the rest of the night, but more on that later.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><strong>Wow &#8211; this is a long one! \u00a0Look for Part Two of the Spotlight on Disney Next Week<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">-Amber\u00a0\u263a<\/p>\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"So\u2026secret confession time.
